It was quite a festival over at Clarke Quay with over 40 bands from 18 over countries including Singapore, Malaysia, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Japan and not forgetting South Korea who performed for Music Matters. From South Korea, we managed to catch Crying Nut & Aziatix during their performance and even got to interview them after that. With sharing of music being one of the main purposes of this event, Clarke Quay was more hyped up than always with performances each day at 7 different locations each day.
Crying Nut performed on all 3 days of Music Matters impressing the crowd with their music each time. Listening to their performances on CD or even watching the MV most probably do no justice to how amazing they sound in real life. Watching them perform their music just makes you want to jump along to each beat and to sing along to their catchy lyrics.
Some background information about Crying Nut, they are one the most influential punk rock bank in South Korea. Starting out as a group of underground performers, they made their big break in 1993 through their first album with Crying Nut. 5 members of the group include Lee Sang Myon (Guitar) , Lee Sang Hyuk (Drums), Park Yun Shik (Vocal), Han Kyung Rock (Bass), Kim In Soo (Accordion, Keyboard) Despite many groups losing their fan base and popularity when they enter the army, it was a completely different story when it came to Crying Nut as they entered the army together and joined the army band.
More onto Crying Nut’s performances, despite not being in their homeland, they had fans who were there supporting them. And I believe there were many onlookers who became fans of their amazing music and stage charisma. Their CDs & DVDs were both sold out by the time they finished their 3rd performance.

Other than Crying Nut, the other group from South Korea was none other than Aziatix! Many of you should have heard or read about them be it via Twitter, Weibo or any other social media channels as everyone was promoting them. Each of them started out as a solo artist before them came together to form Aziatix, not only that, they all achieved success in their solo career. Members of Aziatix include Flowsik, Nicky Lee & Eddie Shin.
With this being their only performance during their stay in Singapore, Beer Market was flooded with fans. The crowd was grooving on to Aziatix’s smooth R& B tracks and cheering at the top of their voices the entire time during the performances and Aziatix tried their best to interact with the crowd as much as they could despite only performing 4 tracks namely Another Day, Go, Cold and Whatchu Know About Us.
