Promoted by WProductions & Tomato.M, Korean Idols Music Concert Hosted in Indonesia took place at Istora Senayan, Jakarta on the 4th of June. Being the first large scale Kpop concert in the country, the line up included X5, DGNA, Girls Day, Park Jung Min and the highlight being Super Junior.

IMG_0542Hours before the concert was scheduled to take place, fans have started queuing outside the venue with sapphire blue balloons in hand. One thing that was different from Singapore was that there were various road side stalls selling fan made merchandise like shirts, posters, fans, light sticks, food and drinks. It was quite a sight as it was not something you get to see in Singapore, but something unique to their country. After entering the stadium area, official booths were set up for food and drinks as well a photo taking booth was also available.

IMG_0446As the time drew closer, barricades were opened and fans were allowed into the venue. Due to the fact that it was a free standing/seating concert, it gave us quite a shock to see the fans running into the venue in large groups. After some introductions, a teaser video was shown on screen before DGNA kicked start the concert with Admiring Boy, New Boyz, Shining World, Promise and ending off with Stumble Stumble.

IMG_1692After hyping up the mood of the crowd, DGNA’s  junior X-5 took over the stage and began their performance with Fantasy. Dressed in their custom made costumes, the rookie group showed off their charisma with white suits and sunglasses. Following up with Dont Come Near Me after a short interview, X5′s leader Ghun shocked the crowd when he unbuttoned his shirt causing the entire stadium to go into a frenzy.

IMG_1834The only female group performing for the night, Girls Day started off their performance with Nothing Lasts Forever before continuing with Twinkle Twinkle and What About Me after a short interview. Filled with cuteness, the entire stadium could be heard cheering for them as they performed.

IMG_2602Next up was SS501 member Park Jung Min’s musical like performance with his hit single, Not Alone followed by If You Cant and Everyday Is Christmas after a short interview. Not only that, Park Jung Min ended his performance with Gara Gara, a song specially prepared for the Indonesian fans. During his performance, Park Jung Min also went down the stage to get closer to his fans. On his way back up to the stage, he even took a fan letter from the crowd, he is indeed the king of fan service indeed.

Highlight of the night was Super Junior as they performed their hit songs from both their Korean as well as their Taiwanese albums. The crowd goes wild the moment Super Junior stepped onto the stage to begin their performance with Bonamana, followed by No Other, Super Girl, Perfection, Super Junior Trot’s Rokkuko, and ended with their hit song, Sorry Sorry. The entire stadium was in the shade of sapphire blue light sticks and balloons supporting Super Junior, but cheers from the fans were never too soft no matter who was performing.

IMG_3251Ending off the concert, all the performers gathered on stage once again to sing Heal The World together. Super Junior’s leader Lee Teuk not only thanked the fans repeatedly, he also lead by example and brought the whole of Super Junior to each side of the stage to thank the fans. A worthy leader indeed.

Our experience at the concert was amazing although we will not dare imagine a free seating concert in Singapore. Look out for out Press Conference article coming up soon!
