On 29th November 2011, the press conference of 2011 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) Singapore was held in the morning at Marina Bay Sands Expo. With millions of viewers worldwide, artistes from Korea and other countries attended 2011 MAMA. Follow us as we bring you back to the press conference once again to relive the moments of how the artistes felt to be able to perform on this big stage.

First artiste introduced to the press was Wei Chen from China he is also the winner of China’s TV programme, Super Boy. Other than his usual performance, he has also inserted Chinese elements to his stage for the night, with hopes that the audience will enjoy the Chinese culture. If there is a chance, he would like to work with more musicians in Korea as he has enjoyed his previous collaboration with MBLAQ.

With 10 year of experience in this industry, they are the representatives of Korea Hip Hop music, Dynamic Duo and Simon D. Excited and nervous at the same time, they are thrilled to be able to meet artistes whom they have looked up to since young like Snoop-Dog. With the best performers and the best stage in place, they are in their best mood for 2011 MAMA.

 Winner of Super Star K Season, Ulala session was also present at the press conference. Known for their outstanding vocals, they are able to cover all genres from R&B, performance and dance to ballad. On behalf of all the other contestants in the show, they have practiced hard as Super Star K’s representative.

 The third time in Singapore, we have Miss A with us for this year’s MAMA. The girls appreciate the opportunity to be part of 2011 MAMA once again. Miss A also said to anticipate on their performance specially prepared with a special mix of martial arts in their performance for 2011 MAMA. When practicing for this special stage, Min accidentally injured her neck. However, when asked on whether it would affect her performance for the night, Min states that her neck is getting better and that she will give her best for the performance they have prepared. It was also revealed that Jia & Fei are interested in acting and would take up the chance when an opportunity arises, so do look forward to it!

 The first time in Singapore, we have the representatives of Korea Rock Band, YB. Being in Singapore for the first to meet their fans, YB is delighted and thankful for the invitation to 2011 MAMA. They also said that it is their honour to perform on this stage for MAMA and the will have a wonderful opening stage together with Dynamic Duo and Simon D.

 Sexy icon Koda Kumi was the only artiste from Japan. With her bubbly personality, she thanked the media in Korean before expressing her excitement of being able to attend 2011 MAMA Japan’s representative. When asked one which are some of the Korean artistes she know of, she mentioned that she still keeps in touch with all 5 members after their previous collaboration. Another artiste was Minzy from 2ne1 during 2ne1’s stay in Japan. With such a marvellous stage, she promises to put up the best stage for 2011 MAMA

 The new representative of Hallyu, Kim Hyun Joong was the last artiste for first session of the welcome press conference. Kim Hyun Joong is delighted to be in Singapore once again and this time, to perform on the stage of 2011 MAMA. Although it was previously planned for his Asia Tour to begin in April 2012, there was a conflict in schedule for an up-coming drama and thus the tour was pushed back to the later part of the year. Although he was labelled as the perfect guy with looks, ability to sing, dance and even act, he personally felt that he was still lacking in some areas which he will continue work on.

 The second time in Singapore, the nine membered girl group Girls Generation is once again back in Singapore for 2011 MAMA. They were thrilled to be in Singapore for 2011 MAMA as it has been quite some time since they have attended MAMA thus they would like to enjoy their performance together with their fans. They have also mentioned that they have slightly altered their song, The Boys to make it slightly more exciting for 2011 MAMA’s performance. They also revealed that as they have 9 members, it takes slightly longer for them to get ready before a performance. Depending on how long the song is or the type of occasion, it would range from 2.5hrs to 3.5hrs.

 Constantly challenges for new style and songs, we have the four membered girl group, 2NE1 in Singapore for the second time this year. Keeping their performance for the night a secret, leader CL mentioned that their performance will be special and for everyone to look forward to their performance. 2NE1 also mentioned that through 2NE1TV, they were able to show another side of themselves as they behave differently on and off stage. Thus they appreciate the opportunity to be able to have such a program.

 Best male idol group from Korea, Super Junior was the last group to enter the press conference room. With high popularity worldwide, Super Junior did an introduction of themselves in various languages, causing the media to break into laughter. As they were craving for Korean cuisine the day before, they also visited Bibigo located at Raffles Place which was the official sponsor for 2011 MAMA. As for the trophies they have received, they store it at the office as there are so many of them and furthermore, the award is not given to an individual but to Super Junior as a group thus they feel that it would not be right if any of them kept the award themselves.
